47 Year old Susan Boyle blows the judges away with her audition for Britains Got Talent, singing I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables.
Thanks to all Susans Fans for making this video so successful xx
Here are the Lyrics(Thanks to NewHotdox) -
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high,
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid
When dreams were made and used,
And wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung,
No wine untasted.
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hopes apart
As they turn your dreams to shame.
And still I dream he'll come to me
And we will live our lives together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms
We cannot weather...
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seems
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.

You're probably right, there, Mercedes!
I couldn't believe how many students brought nothing with them this week-not a pencil, not a piece of paper, nothing. They took tests for 2-3 hours and thought they should just veg the rest of the day. I suppose a few teachers did the same!
The whole state runs these tests. The school gets a letter grade based on how well the students do, if they make "adequate yearly progress." The district gets a grade from the state also. Teachers cannot get performance bonuses if their students do not make gains.
There is a bill in the state legislature that would completely change how teachers are paid in Florida. We could not be paid for years of service, advanced degrees, or having National Board certification. Our salary would be based on how well our students perform on end-of-course exams. Salaries could go up and down if students one year did well, next year did poorly.
Who on earth would go into teaching under those conditions?
Yet, I can see this approach appealing on a very simplistic level.
I can't imagine anyone would! It would destroy the masters and doctoral programs in the colleges of education in the state, as well. The bill was recommended out of committee 6-2 this week and now goes to the Ways and Means Committee, then to a vote on the Senate floor. It actually is a response to the current federal initiative, "Race to the Top." 4.5 billion dollars in grant money are at stake. States have to show they are changing what they consider to be effective teachers.
How are socioeconomic factors that schools cannot control, accounted for??
It sounds like something out of a Charles Dickens novel!
See you later, I hope.
And continue to enjoy Susan's singing.
or i love her

88,888,888!
Just stopping by for my Susan sunshine.
Created within
Her life
A burning desire
That ignited
A spark
A flame
A fire
And that fire
Burns higher
And higher
And higher
